Senior Project Manager - Planning Lead
We have an immediate need for a full-time Senior Project Manager to lead our infrastructure planning practice in our New York office. 

Essential Functions:
  • Manage the Infrastructure Planning Practice in the New York office
  • Manage a team of planners and designers who will support and engage engineers within Sherwood to implement infrastructure plans
  • Develop the infrastructure planning practice across multiple offices (Atlanta, Los Angeles, San Francisco)
  • Provide innovative technical solutions, thought leadership, and coordination of engineering integration to support engineers in the design process and conceptualize place-based technical solutions
  • Client relationship management; communication with clients and design partners
  • Internal project management
  • Mentorship and leadership of teams and individuals (local and remote staff)
  • Writing, research and report development
  • Manage graphic visualization, diagramming and storytelling efforts associated with projects
  • Apply sustainability frameworks to engineering and design projects (i.e.climate adaptation)
  • Support business development in the field of climate adaptation planning in the Northeast region
  • Domestic and international travel may be required for projects

  • Ability to take the lead on client relations/client management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Works well and communicates effectively with others
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, multi-task, and use time effectively
  • Ability to read and interpret written information, and follow instructions
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Ability to prepare reports, presentations, correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Maintains confidentiality and security of sensitive company and client information
Skills and Experience:
  • 10+ years of industry experience
  • Experience with systems based civil engineering, design process, and managing projects and teams
  • Active participation in New York based planning and design organizations preferred (ie. Design Trust, NY APA, USGBC, Urban Design Forum)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Environmental Engineering, or Landscape Architecture. Master’s degree preferred
  • LEED, Envision, LBC, Sites, Well Certification preferred
 Computer Skills:
  • GIS
  • Illustrator, InDesign, Adobe Creative Suite or similar
  • Modeling capabilities – sustainability metrics preferred
  • Knowledge of CAD preferred
